The 2010 Worldwide Toast Tally for Robert Burns

When Homecoming Scotland announced their plans for Robert Burns’ 250th Anniversary, we knew instinctively that we had to take part. We wanted it to be special and to make Rabbie proud.

We came up with the idea of a Worldwide Toast, something that was easy for people to do but at the same time would echo all around the world.

So, with the help of people on all seven Continents, we successfully created the opportunity for everyone around the globe to unite and raise a glass to his memory. We put together a fantastic photo gallery as pictures from all over the world came flying in to commemorate this wonderful event. 

The toast was such a tremendous success and the enthusiasm and support from all around the world was so heartwarming that it seemed a real pity not to do it all again.

By making the toast an annual event, we hope that we can create a lasting legacy for Burns to take with us into the future for generations to come.

How To Take Part

This year it is easier than ever and anyone can take part. Whether your event is at a Burns Supper or simply a family get together, all you need to do is toast the Bard, count the number of glasses raised and either email us with your numbers or complete the on-line registration form, you can find this form in the 'Quick Links' section on the right hand side of this page.

We will then add your name and numbers to our Worldwide Toast Tally and if you send us in photographs of your event, we will be pleased to include them in our photo gallery.

No time limits (any reasonable period surrounding 25th January 2010) and the toast can be anything from a wee Single Malt Whisky to a glass of Scotland’s other national drink, Irn Bru!!
